What might be important for you

Why should I choose an Oelkrug tailored shirt?
By using our configurator you can select from a variety of options and 'manufacture'  your shirt according to your own specific needs. We have over 30 years experience in the manufacturing of bespoke shirts and can provide advise for many details. Our bespoke shirts are 100% "Made in Germany". Our fabrics come from the best weavers from England, Italy, Scotland, Austria and Switzerland.

Is there a minimum order value?
No, already with the first tailored shirt you get the best price. Accordingly, there are no discounts, because each shirt is individually made.

What are the costs?
The costs depend primarily on the quality of the fabric. We work with traditional textile companies in order to provide best possible quality. All materials are subject to the weaver's strict controls (according to DIN standards). Such materials are therefore slightly more expensive than imported unbranded products.

What guarantees do you offer?
We offer 100 percent satisfaction. For example, if you order more than one shirt as a new customer, we will first make a single shirt, to make sure that it fits perfectly. Only when we have this certainty we complete your order.

How can I avoid to take the measurements on my own?
The easiest way is to visit us in our showroom. If this is not possible, then just send us the shirt that fits you best. We will then take the measurements and send it back to you along with your order. Of course we can make any changes with respect to the original shirt upon request.

Must I take the measurements for a new order again?
After you have made your first order your personal data are stored in our data base. Therefore, for future orders, it is not necessary to take your measurements again. However, we recommend to check the measurements within about 3 years.

How long does it take to get my shirt?
From the time of order acceptance, it will take about 4-6 weeks. Before Christmas or during the summer holidays, the delivery times can be significantly longer. We appreciate your patience.

How to pay?
A tailor made shirt is specifically made for you and takes your personal preferences into account. Therefore, a tailor-made shirt has no resale value. We cannot take it back. New customers are requested pre-payment. Procedures might deviate for regular customers.

How much are the shipping costs?
We offer the delivery to the most favorable prices. Currently, the shipping costs are 7.90 ? (within Germany). Order comprising three or more shirts are delivered for free (only within Germany).

Can you send me samples of your fabrics?
Of course! We can send you all the samples you want. We also provide you with plenty of information about fabrics, how to take measurements and many details you cannot easily deduce from the web pages. We request, however, to send the samples back to us.

What type of collar should I choose?
Most importantly, choose the type of collar that you like. If you have a long, slender neck, the collar can be a bit higher. With a short neck, a short collar is often more comfortable to wear. This advice, of course, does not conside fashionable aspects.

I have trouble with the Internet order. What should I do?
No problem. In this case, please call us in our shop (0821/512533). Maybe  you can already check out some fabrics  which we can discuss on the phone.

How can I best care for my tailored shirt?
Using a washing machine, you should  fold your shirt to the left side or put it in an old head sheet. Water temperature should be 40? C (60?C max.). For drying, hang the shirt on a hanger. We strongly recommend not to use a hot-air dryer, as this leads to severe wear.

Does my shirt shrink?
A shirt made from 100% cotton will shrink slightly. That is the nature of the cotton fiber. But don't worry. In the production process we take this effect into account. Therefore, your shirt might initially feel a bit too large but after washing it 2-3 times it will fit perfectly. Different fabrics have different potentials to shrink. We try to take this into account during the manufacturing process.

Why do you not recommend no-iron shirts?
Non-ironing shirts may be usefull for a variety of reasons (eg if you are traveling frequently). The advantage of the ease of ironing is outweighted by the disadvantage of a poor skin surface climate. Sweat is hardly absorbed by these shirts. In addition, such shirts wear significantly faster (see an article in the magazine Stiftung Warentest,  Issue 10/2006):
